Bulldogs, Seahawks Meet At 2:30 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team's season-long, 10-game home stand continues on Wednesday when Wagner visits Dewitt Family Field. The doubleheader begins at 2:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (7-21) will be trying to build some positive momentum for this weekend's four-game series with Harvard. Yale is coming off a big offensive performance in Saturday's doubleheader with Cornell. The Bulldogs banged out 24 hits in the two games.

No player in the Ivy League is as hot as Yale shortstop Meg Johnson, who was named to the league's Honor Roll on Tuesday after batting .526 (10-for-19) in six games last week. In Friday's doubleheader with Princeton, Johnson went 5-for-7 with three runs scored and an RBI. For the season, she is batting .322 and leads the team with 16 runs scored.

Christy Nelson also has been swinging the bat well. In the last eight games, she is hitting .385 which has raised her overall average to .300. Nelson leads the Bulldogs with eight doubles and her 14 RBI are second on the team.

Wagner (10-26) plays a doubleheader at Saint Peter's on Tuesday. Brittany Huss leads the team with a .333 batting average. Kelsey Parker and Kristen Matteoni share the team lead with four home runs. Parker also has 10 doubles. Olivia Zwick (3.22 ERA) and Samantha Bedker (5.85 ERA) have handled a majority of the pitching duties.

Last year on Staten Island, Yale and Wagner split a doubleheader. One of the highlights for the Bulldogs came when Jennifer Ong belted her 15th double of the season, which set a new single-season school record. Yale leads the all-time series with Wagner 8-4.
