  • Seven Bulldogs Earn NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Honors

    Seven Yale softball players have been named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes. Riley Hughes, Brittany Labbadia, Kristen Leung, Jennifer Ong ’13, Sarah Onorato, Liz Tutino ’13 and Kelsey Warkentine ’13 were all honored for their work in the classroom in 2012-13.
  • Dunham To Play In Tournament With USA Athletes International

    Chelsey Dunham, a mainstay on the Yale pitching staff over the last three years, is getting an opportunity to test her skills against international competition. Dunham is heading to Holland for 10 days with USA Athletes International. She will be playing for a USA softball team in the Oldenzaal Run Invitational, while also acting as a good will ambassador and touring the nation. The team will have five days of games during the trip.
  • Onorato Named Second Team All-Region

    The honors continue to come in for Yale catcher Sarah Onorato. She has been named to the NFCA Northeast Region second team as a catcher.

    Sarah Onorato’s remarkable season has earned her a big honor. Onorato, who set a number of school records, including hitting 14 home runs, has been named the Ivy League Player of the Year.

  • Bulldogs Close Out Season With Single Game At Marist

    The Yale softball team completed Ivy League play in impression fashion. The Bulldogs hit eight home runs in Saturday’s doubleheader at Brown. Yale will now try to end the season on an equally positive note. In a bit of a scheduling quirk, the Bulldogs conclude the 2013 season with a non-league opponent when they play a single game at Marist on Tuesday. The first pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
  • Bulldogs Fall At Marist In Season Finale

    Yale’s offensive outburst from Sunday didn’t carry over. Two days after belting eight home runs in a doubleheader with Brown, the Bulldogs were limited to two hits in a 6-0 loss at Marist in the season finale.
  • Onorato Earns Ivy League Honor

    Another big week earned Yale catcher Sarah Onorato another honor. Onorato, who batted .588 in six games last week, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. She shared the honor with Brown’s Stephanie Thompson.
  • Bulldogs Belt Eight Home Runs; Set Single Season School Record In Split With Brown

    The Yale softball team ended Ivy League play with a bang. Or to be more precise, eight bangs. The Bulldogs hit eight home runs, including three from Sarah Onorato, in splitting a doubleheader with Brown at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears won the opener 9-8 before Yale cruised to a 12-2 victory in the second game.
  • Final Home Game For Seniors Ends In Victory

    The final game at Dewitt Family Field for Yale’s four seniors was a success. The Bulldogs banged out 12 hits en route to a 5-2 victory over Brown and a split of an Ivy League doubleheader. Christy Nelson, Jennifer Ong, Liz Tutino and Kelsey Warkentine walked off their home field for the last time as winners.
  • Four-Game Series With Brown Includes Friday’s Senior Day At Dewitt Family Field

    Friday will be an emotional day for four Yale softball players who will be making their final appearance at Dewitt Family Field. Christy Nelson, Jennifer Ong, Liz Tutino and Kelsey Warketine have combined to play in more than 500 games, collect nearly 360 hits and drive in nearly 200 runs over the last four years.
  • Familiar Foe Army Next Up For Bulldogs

    The Yale softball team takes a break from Ivy League play on Wednesday. It won’t be against an unfamiliar opponent, however. The Bulldogs travel to West Point for a doubleheader against Army. The two teams have met in each of the last seven years. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3:30 p.m.
  • Doubles Record Down; Onorato Strikes Again

    Sophomore Sarah Onorato continued her assault on the Yale record. Onorato has already set the single season school record with 11 home runs. Today she added the single-season doubles mark to her resume.
  • First-Place Dartmouth Sweeps Yale

    Dartmouth pitcher Kristen Rumley showed Yale why she is a leading candidate for the Ivy League Pitcher of the Year Award on Sunday. Rumley tossed 12 scoreless innings, allowing only four hits, as the Big Green swept a doubleheader from the Bulldogs 5-0 and 8-0.
  • Yale To Honor 1993 Team, Host Dartmouth On Alumni Weekend

    There will be several special guests on hand when the Yale softball team hosts Dartmouth this weekend. Yale’s 1993 Ivy League championship team will be honored between games of Saturday’s doubleheader as part of the Alumni Day festivities. The first pitch on both Saturday and Sunday is set for 12:30 p.m.
  • Dartmouth Spoils Alumni Day With Doubleheader Sweep

    Yale honored the 1993 Ivy League champion softball team between games of Saturday’s doubleheader with Dartmouth. The short ceremony seemed to inspire the 2013 Bulldogs. Yale built an 8-1 lead after two innings of the second game, but Dartmouth rallied and escaped with a 10-8 victory. The Big Green won the first game 10-1.

    Heading into the seventh inning of Wednesday’s second game with Sacred Heart, all the momentum seemed to be on Yale’s side. The Bulldogs had just scored three runs to pull within 7-6. Despite still trailing, Yale had to feel pretty good about it chances to complete the comeback, especially with the top of the order due up in the bottom of the seventh.

Nicole Sidor stars both at the plate and in the circle for the Pioneers. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3 p.m., and CPTV Sports will televise the games on tape delay to its Connecticut viewers.

    Another day, another update required to the Yale softball record book. Christy Nelson became Yale’s all-time home run leader, belting the 18th of her career, but the Bulldogs dropped an Ivy League doubleheader to Harvard, 12-3 and 5-3.

  • Onorato Breaks Single-Season Yale Home Run Record

    Sarah Onorato grew up less than 20 miles from Harvard’s Soldier Softball Field. That probably helped make Saturday’s record breaking day a little extra special. Onorato, a sophomore, hit her school-record 11th home run of the season, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it came on a day that they dropped a doubleheader to the Crimson, falling 7-4 in the first game and 4-2 in the nightcap.
  • Four-Game Road Set At Harvard Next Up For Bulldogs

    After two weekends of league play, the Yale softball team has put itself in position to make a run at the Ivy League North Division title. This weekend’s four-game series at Harvard could go a long way in determining Yale’s fate. The Bulldogs play doubleheaders with the Crimson on Saturday and Sunday. The action begins at 12:30 p.m. on both days.
  • Nelson, Onorato Hit Milestone Homers As Yale Splits With Wagner

    Two Yale softball players hit milestone home runs Wednesday in a 5-3 victory over Wagner in the first game of non-league doubleheader. On the first pitch of the game, Sarah Onorato hit her 10th homer of the season, tying the single-season school record. Later in the game, Christy Nelson belted a two-run homer, the 17th of her outstanding career, which also ties the school record.

    It is back to the road for the Yale softball team. Yale plays a doubleheader at Wagner on Wednesday starting at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs hope it is as successful as their last trip when they won three of four against Cornell and Princeton two weeks ago.

  • Battle Of Bulldogs Wednesday At Dewitt Family Field

    The Yale softball team did just about everything well in the opening weekend of Ivy League play. Yale hit .275, scored 26 runs and belted nine home runs and got solid work in the circle, yielding only 13 earned runs in 50 innings (1.82 ERA). The Bulldogs will look to keep the momentum rolling when they begin a busy week of home games by hosting Bryant on Wednesday. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3 p.m. at Dewitt Family Field.
