    Seven Bulldogs Earn NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Honors Seven Yale softball players have been named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes. Riley Hughes, Brittany Labbadia, Kristen Leung, Jennifer Ong ’13, Sarah Onorato, Liz Tutino ’13 and Kelsey Warkentine ’13 were all honored for their work in the classroom in 2012-13.

    Dunham To Play In Tournament With USA Athletes International Chelsey Dunham, a mainstay on the Yale pitching staff over the last three years, is getting an opportunity to test her skills against international competition. Dunham is heading to Holland for 10 days with USA Athletes International. She will be playing for a USA softball team in the Oldenzaal Run Invitational, while also acting as a good will ambassador and touring the nation. The team will have five days of games during the trip.

    Bulldogs Close Out Season With Single Game At Marist The Yale softball team completed Ivy League play in impression fashion. The Bulldogs hit eight home runs in Saturday’s doubleheader at Brown. Yale will now try to end the season on an equally positive note. In a bit of a scheduling quirk, the Bulldogs conclude the 2013 season with a non-league opponent when they play a single game at Marist on Tuesday. The first pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.

    Onorato Earns Ivy League Honor Another big week earned Yale catcher Sarah Onorato another honor. Onorato, who batted .588 in six games last week, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. She shared the honor with Brown’s Stephanie Thompson.

    Bulldogs Belt Eight Home Runs; Set Single Season School Record In Split With Brown The Yale softball team ended Ivy League play with a bang. Or to be more precise, eight bangs. The Bulldogs hit eight home runs, including three from Sarah Onorato, in splitting a doubleheader with Brown at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears won the opener 9-8 before Yale cruised to a 12-2 victory in the second game.

    First-Place Dartmouth Sweeps Yale Dartmouth pitcher Kristen Rumley showed Yale why she is a leading candidate for the Ivy League Pitcher of the Year Award on Sunday. Rumley tossed 12 scoreless innings, allowing only four hits, as the Big Green swept a doubleheader from the Bulldogs 5-0 and 8-0.

    Dartmouth Spoils Alumni Day With Doubleheader Sweep Yale honored the 1993 Ivy League champion softball team between games of Saturday’s doubleheader with Dartmouth. The short ceremony seemed to inspire the 2013 Bulldogs. Yale built an 8-1 lead after two innings of the second game, but Dartmouth rallied and escaped with a 10-8 victory. The Big Green won the first game 10-1.

    Onorato Breaks Single-Season Yale Home Run Record Sarah Onorato grew up less than 20 miles from Harvard’s Soldier Softball Field. That probably helped make Saturday’s record breaking day a little extra special. Onorato, a sophomore, hit her school-record 11th home run of the season, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it came on a day that they dropped a doubleheader to the Crimson, falling 7-4 in the first game and 4-2 in the nightcap.

On the first pitch of the game, Sarah Onorato hit her 10th homer of the season, tying the single-season school record. Later in the game, Christy Nelson belted a two-run homer, the 17th of her outstanding career, which also ties the school record.

    Onorato Extends Hitting Streak To 15 Games; Bulldogs Drop Doubleheader To Bryant With a stiff breeze blowing out Wednesday afternoon at Dewitt Family Field, the conditions seemed favorable to a Yale softball team that had hit nine home runs in its last six games. Instead it was Bryant that used the long ball to its advantage. Lauren Guy homered in each game, and Aubrey Mable belted a three-run homer in the opener as Bryant swept the Bulldogs 12-7 and 10-2.

    Onorato Named Ivy League Player Of Week Sarah Onorato, who had a big week at the plate in helping Yale race out to the early lead in the Ivy League North Division, has been named the league’s player of the week. In six, games, Onorato batted .440 (11-for-25) with three doubles, four home runs and nine RBI. She also scored eight runs.

The Tigers won the first game 6-1.

Sarah Onorato hammered the first pitch a Yale batter saw over the centerfield fence. Still, the Bulldogs needed some late-inning dramatics to win the first game 5-3. The Rams rallied to win the second game 13-6.

    Bulldogs Drop Single Game At Providence Friday’s home opener comes at a good time for the Yale softball team. During the first two weeks of the season, Yale has played on both coasts and had all 14 of its games away from home. The latest trip took the Bulldogs to Providence on Thursday where they dropped a 9-0 decision to the Friars.
