Dunham To Play In Tournament With USA Athletes International
Headed to Holland For 10 Days
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Chelsey Dunham, a mainstay on the Yale pitching staff over the last three years, is getting an opportunity to test her skills against international competition. Dunham is heading to Holland for 10 days with USA Athletes International. She will be playing for a USA softball team in the Oldenzaal Run Invitational, while also acting as a good will ambassador and touring the nation. The team will have five days of games during the trip.
"I am very honored to be selected and am excited to represent USA softball," Dunham said. "From this experience I hope to raise my level of play, learn about Holland's culture and promote softball."
Dunham, a rising senior from Fairfax Station, Va., has enjoyed an outstanding career for the Bulldogs. She is fourth all-time at Yale with 47 complete games, fifth in career strikeouts with 212 and tied for ninth with 23 wins. She was a second team All-Ivy selection as a freshman in 2011.
Following the trip, Dunham will be back in New Haven, working as a research intern for Dr. Jay Humphrey in developing a new biomedical device to replace a stiffening aorta.
