Bulldogs Head Back To Fairfield For Twinbill
Yale Meets Stags On Wednesday
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It looks like the latest (and hopefully last) winter storm is only going to graze Connecticut, so the Yale softball team may be able to get in its final two games before the start of Ivy League play. The Bulldogs will play a doubleheader at Fairfield on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.
Yale (3-13) spent a good chunk of Saturday and Sunday in Fairfield, hosting the Yale Invitational at Sacred Heart. Senior Tori Balta certainly enjoyed her visit to the town. In four games during the tournament, Balta hit .615 with two doubles and a triple. For her efforts, she was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.
The Bulldogs also got some strong pitching in the tournament from freshman Lindsay Efflandt, who yielded only four earned runs in 13.1 innings.
Fairfield (2-12) played in the University of Kentucky Tournament over the weekend. The Stags are led offensively by Kristen Filicia, who is hitting .410. Sammy Ruffalo (.311) and Gianna Kinhofer (.308) are also off to strong starts to the season.
Rae Ball has earned both of Fairfield's wins in the circle.
The Bulldogs open Ivy League play on Friday at Penn and then are at Columbia on Saturday.
