Teams Meet Wednesday At Dewitt Family Field
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team will try and build on the momentum earned from Saturday's walk-off win over Princeton when Hartford comes to Dewitt Family Field. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 2:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs played four close Ivy games over the weekend against Cornell and Princeton. Three of the four games were decided in the seventh inning. Yale ended on a high note when Laina Do's single scored Camille Weisenbach in the bottom of the seventh inning of a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.
Pitcher Chelsey Dunham had a strong weekend for the Bulldogs. She earned the win against Princeton, and in all, tossed 11.1 innings without allowing an earned run. For her efforts, she was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.
Shortstop Brittany Labbadia also was recognized for strong week at the plate. In six games, she batted .368 with four runs scored, three doubles and her first career home run.
Hartford (6-17) dropped three America East games to Stony Brook over the weekend. The Hawks have given up 138 runs on the season. Chelsey Mooney is one of only two players to start all 23 games and shares the team lead with two home runs. She also has a team-best 12 RBI.
Yale and Hartford are playing for the first time since a 7-6 Bulldogs victory in 2011 at the Rebel Games in Florida.
