  • Four Runs In Seventh Earn Yale Split At Princeton
    March 24, 2019
    Some late-game heroics earned Yale an important doubleheader split at Princeton. The Bulldogs scored four runs in the seventh inning to erase a 1-0 deficit en route to a 4-1 victory over the Tigers at Class of 1895 Field.

    Yale’s potent offense was held in check by Princeton’s Allie Reynolds in the first of a three-game series at Class of 1895 Field in New Jersey. Reynolds limited the Bulldogs to three hits in an 8-0 Tiger victory.

    Yale opened Ivy League play in impressive fashion last weekend, taking two out of three games from Penn at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. Now the Bulldogs head out on the road for the first time in league play, traveling to Princeton for a three-game series.  UPDATE - due to field conditions, the teams will play a single game on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.

    Yale kicks off Ivy League play this weekend, hosting a three-game series with Penn at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. and then a single game on Sunday, also a 12:30 p.m. start. ESPN+ has the video.
  • Kennedy Named Candidate For Senior Class Award

    Shelby Kennedy has enjoyed an outstanding career as a member of the Yale softball team. In 142 games, she has amassed 118 hits and stolen 54 bases. Kennedy also has excelled in the classroom and in the community. As a result, she has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the Senior Class Award.

    Yale had opportunities to stage a comeback vs. Fairfield on Wednesday. The Stags’ pitchers, though, did well working out of trouble, and Fairfield held on for a 3-0 victory at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium.

  • Bulldogs Blank LIU Brooklyn In FAU Tourney Finale

    Yale ended its stay at the Florida Atlantic Parent’s Weekend Tournament in style. Sydney Grobman’s single scored Olivia Vinyard with the only run of the game in the first inning as the Bulldogs edged LIU Brooklyn in a crisp 1 hour, 40 minute, well-played game.

    The Bulldogs nearly knocked off a Big Ten school at Florida Atlantic’s Tournament, but dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to Purdue to start their second day in Boca Raton. Yale then fell to Florida Atlantic 5-3, despite a late rally.
  • Bulldogs Bang Out 12 Hits In 8-2 Win Over Stony Brook

    Yale’s bats came alive in a big way on the first day of the Florida Atlantic Parent’s Weekend Tournament. Carlin Hagmaier went 3-for-4 and scored a run as the Bulldogs rolled to an 8-2 victory over Stony Brook in their second game of the day. Yale dropped a 6-5, 8-inning decision to Florida A&M in the morning, despite hitting two home runs.
  • Florida Atlantic Tournament On Tap; Next Wednesday’s Game Vs. Fairfield Now Home

    Last Sunday, snow was falling during the final innings of Yale’s doubleheader sweep of Hartford at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. This weekend, the Bulldogs will see the other end of the weather spectrum when they travel to the warmth of South Florida for the Florida Atlantic Parent’s Weekend Tournament.
  • Grobman’s Hit In The Snow Caps Doubleheader Sweep

    It’s a pretty good bet Sydney Grobman, a Coral Springs, Florida, native, hasn’t played much softball in the snow. Grobman, though, didn’t seem bothered by it. With the snow from Sunday’s storm just getting started, her single to right field scored Olivia Vinyard in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting Yale to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Hartford at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. It also completed a doubleheader sweep for the Bulldogs, who won the first game 5-0.

  • Bulldogs Fall To Boise State 2-1 In Season Opener

    It wasn’t the result the Yale softball team was looking for, but the Bulldogs should have plenty to feel good about after dropping a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Boise State in the season opener at the Grand Canyon Purple Classic. Boise State (9-2) was playing its 11th game of the season and already has wins over Loyola Marymount and Long Beach State, who have both received votes in the national poll, on its resume.

  • Season Opens At Grand Canyon Purple Classic

    It certainly won’t be an easy opening weekend for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs are in Arizona for the Grand Canyon University Purple Classic, and the four opponents they face are all in their third weekend of play. Yale meets Boise State and North Dakota on Friday, Michigan State and Grand Canyon on Saturday and Michigan State again on Sunday.
  • Bulldogs Preparing For Challenging 2019 Schedule

    Preparations are well under way for what should be a very challenging 2019 schedule for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs, who began practice on Feb. 1, are set to play 47 games, including 17 in the friendly confines of 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The opening date is Feb. 22 with games against Boise State and North Dakota at the Grand Canyon Purple Classic in Arizona.
  • Webb Excited For Opportunity With Peruvian National Team

    It will be an extra special spring and summer for Giovy Webb, who in addition to competing in her junior season for the Bulldogs has been named to the Peruvian National Softball Team. Webb will represent Peru this summer at the USA International Cup (formally known as the Women’s Softball World Championship), the Canada Cup and the 2019 Pan American Games.
  • Two Fall Dates On Tap For Bulldogs

    The Yale softball team will have two home dates this fall as it continues its preparation for the 2019 season. The Bulldogs will host a doubleheader with Sacred Heart at 1 p.m. on Sept. 29. The games at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium will be part of Carol Roberts Fieldhouse Dedication weekend. The Bulldogs will be back at DeWitt on Oct. 6 to host the New Haven City Series.

    Head coach Jen Goodwin will welcome five newcomers to campus this fall. Nic Conway, Olivia Sardoff, Maya Seifert, Katie Tews and Emma Vasen shined both on and off the field during their high school and travel careers.
