Weather Cooperates, Yale Can Play Two
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It looks like the weather has cooperated, so the Yale softball team will host a doubleheader against Hartford on Sunday on 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 1 p.m.
Both Yale and Hartford were supposed to play in the Towson Invitational this weekend, but the tournament was cancelled because of the weather in Maryland.
Yale opened its season last weekend at the Grand Canyon Purple Classic in Arizona against some difficult competition. Still, the Bulldogs got some fine performances. Senior Terra Jerpbak and junior Annie Tarte were both named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Jerpbak pitched 7.2 innings and posted a strong 1.83 earned run average. Tarte is off to a very strong start at the plate. In four games, she is batting .462 (6-for-13) with three runs scored and two RBI.
Hartford (0-4) opened its season on the weekend of Feb. 15 at the Runnin' Bulldog Tournament in South Carolina.
