KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Kate Meserve was 3-for-3 with a run scored and Aracelis Torres went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI as Yale edged Providence 4-3 in its first of two games at the Rebel Games. Deanna DiBernardi pitched a complete game, scattering nine hits while striking out four to earn her first career victory. The Bulldogs then rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Saint Joseph to remain undefeated. Torres and Kathleen Edwards both had two hits in the victory.
Against Providence, Yale trailed 2-0 after the first inning, but scored three times in the third. Meserve and Courtney Blachford began the rally with singles. Kyli Hanson reached on an error to the load the bases. Meserve then scored on Christina Guerland's ground out, and Torres followed with a two-run single.
The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the fourth. Providence pulled to within 4-3 in the sixth on Tara Sullivan's RBI single, but DiBernardi retired the side in order in the seventh.
Against Saint Joseph's, Carly Kinkler's RBI single in the top of the fourth gave Saint Joseph's a 3-0 lead. Yale, though, got one back in the bottom of the fourth when Torres doubled and scored on Edwards' triple. Yale then scored four runs in the fifth. Hanson and Torres both tripled in the inning, and Meredith Parks added an RBI single.
Rebecca Wojciak pitched a seven-hitter and struck out six to earn her second victory of the season.
The Bulldogs are off until Thursday when they play South Dakota State at 8:50 a.m. and La Salle at 10:40 a.m.
