Bulldogs Drop Pair Of One-Run Decisions

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Jessica Young's suicide squeeze bunt scored Whitney Schenbeck with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as Lehigh edged Yale 2-1 at the Rebel Games. In the opening game of the day, the Bulldogs fell to Eastern Kentucky 1-0. Yale was limited to six hits in the two games.

Lehigh's Julie Sterrett doubled home the first run of the game in the third inning. The Bulldogs tied it in the sixth. Chelsea Kanyer doubled and advanced to third on Leah Kelley's sacrifice bunt. Freshman Christina Guerland followed with an RBI double.

Jessica Meyer pitched the first four innings for the Bulldogs (2-4) and allowed only one run. Beth Pavlicek came on in relief, struck out five and allowed just one hit in 5.1 innings.

In the first game, EKU scored the only run in the third inning when Diana Barreras stole third and scored on a throwing error. Yale's best scoring chance came in the bottom of the third. Meredith Parks doubled with one out, and Kate Meserve followed with an infield single, but both runners were left stranded.

Theresa Liedlich started for the Bulldogs and pitched four solid innings. She allowed only three hits and struck out two. Peggy Hunt pitched three scoreless innings of relief.

Kelsey Anderson pitched a three-hitter and had three strikeouts for Eastern Kentucky. Ashley Totten had two of EKU's five hits.
