KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Despite getting 20 hits and scoring 11 runs, Yale dropped a pair of games at the Rebel Games. Erin Hanna's single to right field scored pinch-runner Caitlin Thistle with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Colgate edged the Bulldogs 7-6 in the first game of the day. In game two, Anna Hubert's two-run double in the top of the seventh lifted Cleveland State to a 6-5 win over Yale.
Against Colgate, Yale banged out 11 hits. Leah Kelley, Niki Haab, Chelsea Kanyer and Britni Fabacher each had two apiece. The Bulldogs trailed 6-5 entering the seventh inning but rallied to tie. Freshman Kate Meserve had the big-hit in the inning, a two-out, pinch-hit single that scored Kristy Kwiatkowski.
Yale jumped on the board quickly by scoring twice in the first inning. Kanyer drove home the first run with a single to center, and Haab followed with an RBI single to right. The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the second when Kelley singled and later scored on an error.
Colgate scored once in the second and five times in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead, but the Bulldogs pulled to within 6-5 in the fifth. Kanyer singled and scored on Haab's double, and three batters later, Fabacher singled to left, driving home Haab.
Against Cleveland State, Kanyer went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Bulldogs (2-6). Peggy Hunt pitched four scoreless innings and struck out eight.
