HACKENSACK, N.J.. - Ashley Linnenbank pitched 10 innings and allowed only one earned run as Yale edged Fairleigh Dickinson 3-2 to earn a split of a non-league doubleheader. FDU won the first game 4-3. Pitchers Nicole Farrissey and Jen Buehler limited the Bulldogs to four hits.
In the first game, Fairleigh Dickinson scored an unearned run in the first, but Yale answered with two runs in the second when Seese singled home pinch-runner Katharine Shiota and later scored on a wild pitch.
The Knights, though, regained the lead with a three-run fourth. Dana Myers knocked home the first run with a single, and Caitlyn Reuter followed with a two-run double. Chelsea Kanyer, who began the day 35th in the nation in batting average, knocked in Yale's third run in fifth with a fielders choice, and the Bulldogs had the tying run on base with one out in the seventh, but Buehler retired the final two batters.
In the second game, Yale had 14 hits and scored the winning run on an error in the 10th inning. The Bulldogs had taken a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Britni Fabacher's double scored Peters. FDU tied it in the bottom of the seventh on Kim Farhat's two-out, RBI single.
