NEW HAVEN, Conn - The Yale women’s squash team will open its slate of regular season matches on Friday at 6 p.m. against Williams College at the Brady Squash Center.
The Bulldogs will look to rebound from a 7-2 loss to Harvard in the final match of last weekend’s Ivy Scrimmages. The team delivered 7-2 defeats to both Cornell and Princeton on Saturday as host of the preseason event before being bested by the Crimson on Sunday afternoon.
Bulldog senior captain Alia Aziz leads a promising squad that includes freshmen Katie Ballaine, Carolyn Brown and Katherine Harrison. After winning multiple matches at the Ivy Scrimmages, both Ballaine and Harrison look to notch their first official collegiate victories.
Williams, which finished last season with a 12-10 record, returns all three of its All-Conference players from a season ago. The Bulldogs defeated the Ephs 9-0 during the 2008-2009 regular season and 8-1 during the 2009 Howe Cup.
The Bulldogs hope to improve on last year’s 9-4 regular season and contend for the Ivy League and national championships. The long road toward those goals begins in earnest Friday at 6 p.m. against the Ephs.
