Yale Women Top Franklin & Marshall 9-0
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Friday, the No. 2 Yale women's squash team topped No. 15 Franklin 7 Marshall 9-0 at the Brady Squash Center.
In he match, the Bulldogs won each match easily, sweeping each game and allowing the Franklin 7 Marshall player to earn so many as eight points only once.
At No. 1 for the Bulldogs was senior captain Katie Ballaine, ranked No. 28, going against Emily Caldwell. Ballaine took each game by a score of 11-7. At No. 2, sophomore Shihui Mao, No. 38 nationally, topped No. 123 Halley Cruice 11-4, 11-4, 11-4. At No. 3, No. 24 ranked Gwen Tilghman, a junior, knocked off No. 130 Erin Golueke 11-7, 11-5, 11-4.
In the fourth spot, junior Lilly Fast, ranked No. 40, knocked off Chelsea Ross 11-5, 11-6, 11-4. At No. 5, it was No. 41 Issey Norman-Ross, a sophomore, beating Katherine Perry 11-4, 11-3, 11-5. Senior Katie Harrison, playing at No. 6, earned an 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 victory over Jazmin Matos. Younger sister Anna Harrison, ranked No. 82, also grabbed a win, playing against Margaret Frias at No. 7 and finishing with a score of 11-3, 11-8, 11-3.
In the eighth spot junior Coco Siebert topped Krista Lancione 11-6, 11-5, 11-4. At No. 9, senior Carolyn Brown topped Dana Rapisarda 11-5, 11-5, 11-3.
Finally, in the tenth spot, freshman Georgia Blatchford topped Stephanie Tzarnas 11-5, 11-1, 11-2 to wrap up a day of Bulldog dominance.
The Bulldogs will be back in action January fifth with matches against Williams and Colby College.
