NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's squash team recently held its 2017-18 banquet and announced their new captain, rising senior Emily Sherwood (Brooklyn Heights, N.Y.). The banquet also honored the three current seniors for their four years of dedication and contributions to the program. Captain Jen Davis (Wilmington, Del.), Jocelyn Lehman (Greenwich, Conn.) and Selena Maity (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) led the Yale Women to their best finish in the past five years: fourth nationally and third in the Ivy League.
The three seniors were all key players in the top nine for four years. They were instrumental in leading Yale back to the top four this year, beating Stanford in the CSA Team Championships. Yale's third-place finish in the Ivy League included beating Penn for the first time in the past four seasons.
Dave Talbott, Yale's Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash at Yale, was pleased with the progress of this year's team to get back to the top four in the country. He is also very excited about the addition of Sr. Assistant Coach Lynn Leong and Jr. Assistant Coach Tim Lasusa, who both joined the staff last summer.
With the top four returning for the Yale Women next year, the players are excited about the future.
As part of the evening, the team also gave their Special Recognition Awards for the 2017-18 season. Those are listed below.
