Bulldogs 2-0 in Ivy play
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale Women's Squash Team took down Penn on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-2 and is now 2-0 in Ivy play.
No. 7 seed Nikita Joshi and No. 9 seed Ainsley Weber were the only two Bulldogs to sweep their opponents. No. 4 seed Aishwarya Bhattacharya and No. 5 seed Riya Mital narrowly missed sweeps, winning by a score of 3-1. Both came back from first-game losses to win.
No. 3 Celine Yeap, one of two seniors on the team, notched a key 3-1 victory against her opponent.
"I thought I handled the crucial points really well which was the turning point for my win," said Yeap. "It obviously feels great to beat a team of Penn's caliber but it should not go unmentioned that we have been training very hard this year. The team camaraderie is amazing and we are excited to see what we are capable of achieving this year."
The Elis look to retain their momentum against Princeton tomorrow at noon.
"We are looking to play our best squash tomorrow," said Yeap. "The pressure will be on Princeton as they are the higher ranked team but we will be giving our best for sure."
The match airs live on ESPN+.
