Yale Tops Both Stanford and Bowdoin 9-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale improved its record to 5-1 with 9-0 victories over both Stanford and Bowdoin Sunday at home.

The Bulldogs dropped only three games in the win against Stanford and former coach Mark Talbott, the brother of current head coach David Talbott.

Sophomore Logan Greer bounced back after losing the first game 10-9 to win the next three games 9-6, 9-7, 10-8 at No. 1. Sophomore Sarah Toomey cruised to a 9-2, 9-1, 9-2 win at No. 2. Playing No. 3, junior Alia Aziz won 9-0, 9-5, 9-3. Sophomore Caroline Reigeluth defeated her opponent at No. 5 9-5, 9-2, 9-0. Senior Tara Wadhwa battled to a 5-9, 10-8, 9-0, 10-8 win at No. 7. Junior Katharine Ettinger won 9-1, 10-9, 9-6 at No. 9.

Freshmen continued their impressive play this weekend with victories at No. 4, 6, and 8. Freshman Rhetta Nadas won at No. 4 9-1, 10-8, 9-0. Playing No. 6, freshman Alexandra Van Arkel bounced back after losing the first game 9-0 to win the next three games 9-4, 9-6, 9-5. Freshman Alexandra Kerr rolled to a 9-3, 9-7, 9-7 win at No. 8.

The Bulldogs dropped only one game in the win over Bowdoin. Aziz played No. 1 in the win and came away with a 9-5, 9-5, 9-0 win. Nadas played strong at No. 2 with a 9-0, 9-2, 9-1 victory. At No. 3, Reigeluth cruised to a 9-0, 9-2, 9-1 win. Van Arkel pulled out a 10-8, 9-3, 9-4 win at No. 4.
