Yale Claims Fifth Place in Howe Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Yale defeated Cornell 8-1 Sunday in Cambridge to claim fifth place in the Howe Cup, the women's squash National Championship.

At the No. 1 spot, sophomore Logan Greer rolled to a 9-6, 9-4, 9-0 victory over Rebecca Hazell. Playing No. 2, sophomore Sarah Toomey defeated Shivangi Paranjpe 9-4, 9-5, 9-5. Junior Alia Aziz won 9-6, 9-7, 9-4 over Jean Gemmell at No. 3. It took four games for freshman Rhetta Nadas to defeat Liza Stokes 7-9, 9-2, 9-1, 9-6.

Freshman Alexandra Van Arkel defeated Lauren Sachvie at No. 6 10-9, 9-1, 9-2. At the No. 7 spot, senior Tara Wadhwa cruised to a 9-7, 9-7, 9-1 win over Rachel Wagner. After dropping the first two games, freshman Alexandra Kerr battled to a 2-9, 3-9, 9-6, 9-4, 9-3 victory over Annie Ritter. Playing No. 9, junior Katharine Ettinger defeated Izzy Spryrou 9-5, 9-3, 9-3.
