Yale to Host Princeton Saturday

Jan. 28, 2009

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale will host Princeton Saturday at the Brady Squash Center in a match that will be available to watch via free live online video stream. The Bulldogs will look to improve to 9-2 this season with a victory over Princeton.

The match will have Ivy League Title implications for Yale. While Yale currently has one Ivy League loss, Princeton is undefeated not only in the Ivy League but also overall. A win against Princeton will put Yale in control of its destiny when it comes to the Ivy League picture.

Last weekend, Yale defeated Tufts and Bates College 9-0 as part of the Yale Round Robin. Seven of Yale's eight victories to date have been 9-0 shutouts

The Bulldogs only two losses to date came against Trinity and Penn. Both matches went down to the wire as Yale lost in 5-4 battles.

Scouting Princeton
Yale and Princeton met in the Ivy League scrimmage earlier this season. In the match between the two rivals, the Tigers won 5-4.

Princeton's biggest victory to date came Wednesday at home against Penn. In this match, Princeton defeated Penn 6-3. Like the Bulldogs, the Tigers have defeated Cornell 7-2.

History Lesson
Yale faced Princeton twice last season. In the regular season, the Bulldogs lost to the Tigers 6-3. When the two teams met in the Howe Cup, the results were no better for Yale. Princeton defeated Yale 7-2 in the second match.

Ivy League Scrimmage
The Bulldogs finished in fourth place at this year's Ivy League Scrimmage. After defeating Brown 9-0 in their opening match, the Bulldogs dropped their second round match to Penn 5-4. In its final match of the Scrimmage, Yale dropped a 5-4 decision to Princeton.
