NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two members of the Bulldog women's swimming and diving team will represent Yale this weekend at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. Sophomore Paige Meneses and junior Rachel Rosenberg will be looking to qualify to compete at the 2011 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held on Mar. 17–19 in Austin, Texas.
The meet will begin Friday with the preliminaries of the three-meter event. After six dives the top 18 divers will proceed to the evening's finals. The same progression will follow on Saturday for the one-meter event. Platform diving will be held on Sunday, though neither Meneses nor Rosenberg will be competing in this event.
Last year both Meneses and Rosenberg made it to the finals on the three-meter board. Rosenberg finished 15th with a final score of 477.25. Meneses was right behind her in 16th place with 467.10 points. In the one-meter event Rosenberg finished 12th with a total score of 456.70. Meneses just missed out on the finals in the one-meter by finishing 22nd, with the top 18 moving on to the finals.
Rosenberg had her best meet this season at home against Brown on Feb. 12. She put up 306.15 points to win the three-meter event, and 290.92 points to win the one-meter as well. Meneses had a great meet against Navy back in January, scoring 282.53 points in the one-meter event for her highest score this season. Meneses had her best three-meter performance against Vermont with 283.27 points.
The NCAA Zone A Diving Championships will be held in Annapolis, Md., at the Naval Academy's LeJeune Hall. Competition will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Mar. 11 and will conclude on Mar. 13.
