NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The incoming class of freshmen on the Yale women's swimming and diving team will feature six swimmers and one diver. The Bulldogs will welcome three athletes from the East Coast, three from California and one from Texas into the Class of 2015. A seventh swimmer, Eva Fabian, has also been accepted and has committed to attend Yale but may defer enrollment as she prepares for the 2012 Olympics. The team graduated three seniors last year and so the Bulldogs will compete with a larger squad in the 2011-2012 season.
Of the seven incoming freshmen sure to be on campus next year, four of them are high school All-Americans. Additionally, rising senior Hayes Hyde and rising sophomore Chelsea Dunlap will welcome two former teammates to the Yale roster. Lauren Gardanier competed with Hyde at Saratoga High School in Saratoga, Calif., while Cassidy Lapp swam alongside Dunlap at Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas.
"I am looking forward to bringing our new freshmen into the fold," said Robert J.H. Kiphuth Head Coach Cristina Teuscher. "They are a highly motivated and talented group. And as with any great freshmen class, they will bring a lot of energy to our program."
