NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's swimming and diving team will be sending two athletes to compete in this weekend's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, held in Minneapolis, Minn. Sophomore distance freestyle swimmer Eva Fabian and freshman diver Lilybet MacRae will be representing the Bulldogs in competition at NCAAs.
Fabian will be swimming the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle events in Minneapolis after qualifying at the Ivy Championship Meet in February. At that meet, she won the 500- and 1,650-yard free and finished second in the 1,000 yard freestyle, tying for the High Point Swimmer of the Meet Award.
This will be Fabian's second NCAA championship meet, having finished 23rd in the 1,650-yard freestyle in last year's meet. She will swim the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday, Mar. 20, and will compete in the 1,650 two days later, on Saturday, Mar. 22.
MacRae qualified for NCAAs after her strong performance at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, held last weekend in Blacksburg, Va. She finished in third place in both the one- and three-meter diving competitions, using her consistent execution to grab one of six qualifying spots from Zone A. MacRae had an excellent regular season as well, winning the one-meter dive at Ivies and finishing second in the three-meter.
The one-meter dive at NCAAs will be contested on Thursday, Mar. 20., with the three-meter a day later on Friday, Mar. 22.
