Philadelphia, PA - The Yale women's swimming and diving team comfortably beat Dartmouth 217-78 and Penn 196.5-102.5 at Penn's Sheerr Pool Saturday afternoon. The two wins gave the Bulldogs a perfect 4-0 record for 2007, after last weekend's victory over Cornell and Navy.
The Bulldogs won eight events including the first three events of the swimming portion of the meet. Yale's 200 yard medley relay posted a time of 1:46.70 in the first event. The team consisted of Moira McCloskey, Susan Kim, Andrea Clifford, and captain Meg Gill. Next, it was Caroline Dowd's turn to add to Yale's point total. She did so with a win in the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 10:17.41. The third event of the meet saw freshman Jane Kim claim first place in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 1:52.14.
Jane would also win the 100 yard freestyle later in the meet. Her two-win meet fell shy of last weekend's hat trick of wins by just 0.15 seconds as she finished second in the 500 yard freestyle behind Dartmouth's Melissa Kern. Jane's two victories were matched by fellow freshman Susan Kim, who added to her early relay win with two individual wins in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events. Yale's other wins came from McCloskey in the 200 yard individual medley and Gill in the 100 yard butterfly.
Next Saturday, Yale will play host to the Brown Bears (2-2) in their last home meet of the season.
