Yale Eighth After Day 1 of ECAC Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - With 25 points, Yale sits in eighth place after Day 1 of the 2007 ECAC Swimming Championships. The event resumes Saturday at 10 am at Harvard.

Heading into Day 2, Marist College is in first place with 110 points.

The Yale 'A' team of sophomores Katie French and Emma Chapman and seniors Tory Nelson and Ashley Kochanek placed second in the consolation final of the 200 yard freestyle relay to start the day for the Bulldogs. The group registered a time of 1:42.26.

Junior Nicole Swaney placed eighth in the 500 yard freestyle final with a time of 5:11.89.

The Bulldogs found success in the relays again, as Chapman, French, Nelson and junior Nicole Swaney placed eighth in the 400 yard medley relay. They finished in a time of 4:09.36.

Saturday's swimming begins with the 200 yard medley relay preliminaries. Results are available at the meet website.
