Yale Tops Southern Connecticut State

New Haven, CT - Yale won its home opener 131-101 over Southern Connecticut State Sunday at the Robert Kiphuth Memorial Exhibition Pool.
Despite Southern Connecticut State's Kirsten Frost setting a pool record for the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:55.74 and winning three events, Yale managed to pull out the victory.
In the diving competitions, sophomore Marisa J Poverman won the 1-meter diving and junior Ali Jones won the 3-meter diving. Senior Katelyn Kane took the 50-yard freestyle race by a hundreth of a second. Junior Blake Walsh won the 200-yard IM by 0.41 seconds. In her first career home match, Kristin Darwin took the 200-yard butterfly by four seconds. Senior captain Caroline Dowd pulled out the 200-yard breaststroke by over eight seconds.
