Yale Climbs To First Place At The Patriot Invitational

Yale jumped up two spots on Saturday to take over sole possession of first place of the Patriot Invitational. The final day of the competition will be held tomorrow at George Mason University's Aquatic & Fitness Center.

Yale's Moira McCloskey was the Bulldogs top individual finisher, as she won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.88.

The Bulldogs' 200-yard medley relay team of McCloskey, Marilee Kiernan, Meg Gill and Alexis Mann took a home a first place finish thanks to a time of 1:46.81.

Gill came in second in the 100-yard butterfly (57.20) and Katie French finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.26).

McCloskey, Chase Butler, Nicole Swaney and Caroline Dowd teamed up to finish third in the 800-yard freestyle (7:45.49).

The Bulldogs currently have 530 points, while Duke is in second place with 487 points and UMBC is in third with 456 points.

The invitational will end tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 9 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
