COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Yale women's swimming and diving team climbed another place during Saturday's competition to finish 8th in the Terrapin Cup Invitational with 247 points. After ending day 1 in 10th place, the Bulldogs climbed one place on both the second and third days of the meet.

Yale's move into 8th was made possible with Yale's best result of the meet. Senior Moira McCloskey added yet another individual win to her already impressive season tally with a first-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke. Her time of 2:01.23 kept West Virignia's Morgan Callaway at bay and helped McCloskey earn the maximum 20 points towards Yale's tally.

One of Yale's standout freshman Susan Kim was another strong performer during Saturday's evening session. Kim qualified for the championship final of the 200 yard breaststroke and finished 3rd in the event. Her time of 2:17.66 is just 0.51 seconds outside of the Yale record for the event, set back in 1998.

Yale also earned valuable points in the 200 yard butterfly. Meg Gill and Blake Walsh both qualified for Saturday evening's consolation final in the event. Gill finished 2nd in the consolation final, giving her 10th place overall, even though her fast time of 2:04.36 would have been good enough for 6th overall if she had qualified for the championship final. Walsh finished one spot behind Gill in 11th.

Aside from individual success, the Bulldogs continued to show good teamwork with another solid relay performance. In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the team of Jane Kim, Alexis Mann, Andrea Clifford and Gill finished 5th, pipping Villanova to the post by the narrow margin of 0.2 seconds. The result gave Yale top five finishes in four of the meet's five relay events.

After a break for Thanksgiving, the Bulldogs will return to action at the end of November as they travel to compete in U.S. Open.
