The women's swimmers and divers continued their strong performances at the Terrapin Cup Invitational in College Park, Maryland on the second day of competition. Moira McCloskey was Yale's swimmer on the day, coming in fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and qualifying for the finals, while Melanie Loftus finished second overall in the three-meter diving after doing the same on the one-meter board yesterday.
In the 400 individual medley, Danielle Page finished ninth with a time of 4:33.97 and Megan Bailey came in 12th with a 4:34.48 finish, both qualifying for the consolation heat. Kristin Cartoski finished in 21st place.
In the 100 butterfly, Becca Knicely narrowly missed making the finals, instead finishing 9th for a berth in the consolation heat with a time of 57.97. Meg Gill and Amy Hancock finished 21st and 23rd, respectively.
McCloskey's time of 58.49 in the 100 backstroke earned her fifth place overall and gave her Yale's top swimming finish on the women's side. Bailey also qualified for the bonus heat in the event with a 24th place standing.
In the 3-meter diving, Loftus repeated yesterday's second place performance, finishing with 384 points. Liz Fogelsong ended up 7th with 227.89 points.
