NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale was named among the top academic women's swimming teams in the nation today by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The Bulldogs recorded a 3.42, which was the 9th best GPA in Division I college swimming.
The improved GPA, up from a 3.38 last year, moved this year's team up four spots in the standing from their 13th place in 2004-2005.
Head coach Frank Keefe's young squad which achieved this GPA includes 16 freshmen and 7 sophomores. The squad enjoyed another successful season in 2005-06. The Bulldogs finished with a 8-4 overall record as well as winning it's first Patriot Invitational team championship. Yale was one of two Ivy League schools ranked in the Top 25 and one of only three Ivy schools reporting a team GPA of over 3.0.
