Yale Maintains Perfect Doubles Record at Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Bulldogs completed day two at the Maryland Invite Saturday at the University of Maryland.  Yale improved to 4-0 in doubles play at the tournament. 

Freshman Elizabeth Epstein and sophomore Stephanie Kent continued their success from Friday with an 8-2 victory over James Madison University’s Pate and Douglass 8-2.  The doubles team of junior Stevi Petrelli and freshman Jenna Ritz defeated their doubles opponent 8-6 Saturday.  Both Yale doubles teams will have matches at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. 

In the Flight ‘A’ Singles Draw, Epstein won her quarterfinals match over Maryland’s Jordan Hansbrough before dropping a 7-5, 6-2 decision in the semifinals.  Petrelli lost her quarterfinals match 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.  Kent also dropped her quarterfinals match 7-6 (4), 6-2. 

Despite losing Saturday, Yale’s players will all play more singles matches on Sunday.
