Petrelli Wins Consolation Singles Draw at Cissie Leary Invitational Tournament
Bulldogs Complete Play at Annual Tournament
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior Stevi Petrelli won the consolation singles draw at the Cissie Leary Invitational Tournament Sunday at the University of Pennsylvania.
Petrelli won two matches Sunday to win the bracket. In the semifinals, Petrelli defeated Temple’s Theresa Stangl 6-2, 6-4. In the finals, Petrelli rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Purdue’s Kirsten Magi.
The doubles team of sophomore Vicki Brook and senior Sarah Lederhandler defeated the No. 3 seed in the semifinals to advance to the finals of the doubles draw Sunday before losing to the No. 1 seed 8-4.
Both Brook and freshman Elizabeth Epstein lost their semifinals matches Sunday to seeded players in the main singles draw.
