NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 44 Bulldogs improved to 4-1 with a 7-0 victory over UMass Friday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center to extend their home winning streak to 21 matches.
Yale won the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Vicky Brook and junior Lindsay Clark defeated Candynce Boney and Maude Lecluyse 8-5. Senior Jessica Rhee and sophomore Stephanie Kent rolled to an 8-2 win over Julia Comas and Magdalena Ploch at No. 2 doubles.
Kent cruised to a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles over Ploch. Brook defeated opponent Comas 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Playing No. 3 singles, Rhee pulled out a 6-1, 5-7 (10-6) win over Boney. Petrelli won 7-5, 6-3 over Lecluyse at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, freshman Elizabeth Epstein defeated Kaitlyn Carpenter 6-2, 6-3. Senior captain Sarah Lederhandler won 7-5, 6-3 over Jocelyn Providence at the No. 6 singles slot.
