NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 44 Yale improved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-3 win over Memphis Sunday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center to extend its home winning streak to 22 matches.
The Bulldogs won four of six singles matches to clinch the victory over Memphis. At No. 2 singles, sophomore Vicky Brook cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Courtney Collins. Junior Stevi Petrelli rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles against Amanda Brown. Playing No. 5 singles, freshman Elizabeth Epstein won 6-2, 6-1 over Kelly Gray. Senior captain Sarah Lederhandler defeated Toulch at No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-0.
Vicky Brook and Lindsay Clark won the lone doubles match for the Bulldogs at No. 2 doubles. The duo combined for an 8-2 victory over Andrea Arques-Garcia and Amanda Brown.
Next week, the Bulldogs will compete in the ECAC Indoor Championships. Yale won this event last season and will look to defend its title against Ivy League competition.
