No. 43 Yale Beats No. 62 Harvard
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 43 Yale improved to 7-1 and advanced to the finals of the ECAC Division I Women’s Indoor Tennis Championship Saturday with a 6-1 victory over No. 62 Harvard. The Bulldogs will face Dartmouth Sunday in the finals at 2 p.m.
Yale won the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, the doubles team of sophomore Vicky Brook and junior Lindsay Clark rolled to an 8-2 victory over Cao and Rosekrans. The duo of junior Stevi Petrelli and senior Sarah Lederhandler defeated Chang and Gridley 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Playing No. 2 singles, Brook cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Tachibana. Senior Jessica Rhee battled back at No. 3 singles after losing the first set 6-0. Rhee won the next two sets 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 to win the match.
At No. 4 singles, Petrelli pulled out a 6-3, 4-6, (10-6) win over Rosekrans. Freshman Elizabeth Epstein won 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Change at No. 5 singles. Playing No. 6 singles, Clark battled to a 7-6, 4-6, (10-6) win over Lehman.
