ITA Northeast Regionals Begin Friday in Hanover
New Haven, Conn. – The Bulldogs will send seven players to Hanover, N.H., for the USTA/ITA Notheast Regional Championships which begin Friday and run through Oct. 26.
The Bulldogs will feature six singles players and three doubles teams in the tournament, which determines who will advance to the USTA/ITA National Championships Nov. 4-7 in Flushing, N.Y.
The Main Draw begins Saturday for singles play following Friday's Qualifying rounds. The Bulldogs will only send one player to the courts for the first round, where junior Stephanie Kent will open play against St. Peter's Alex Livingston. Freshman Annie Sullivan will receive a first-round bye. Junior Vicky Brook, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, will also receive a first-round bye, as will sophomore Elizabeth Epstein. No. 12-seeded freshman Blair Seideman will also rest during the first round, along with senior Lindsay Clark.
The Bulldogs' doubles teams will also get Friday off for Qualifying before taking to the courts during Main Draw play Saturday. Epstein and Seideman will go up against Kaitlyn Carpenter and Jocelyn Providence from UMass. Senior Silia DeFilippis will team up with Sullivan to face Adi Petrova and Diana Popescu of Buffalo. No. 2-seeded Brook and Clark will square off against Seton Hall's Darcy Demers and Gabi Kaldan.
