  • Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced

    The Ivy League has released its list of student-athletes selected for 2011-12 Academic All-Ivy honors in its spring sports, and 10 Yale student athletes were recognized. The 10 men and women were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each Ivy institution nominated five men and women from its eligible student-athletes.
  • Best in Region Again: Bulldogs Sit atop Final ITA Northeast Rankings

    A week after achieving the highest final ITA national ranking in school history, the Ivy League champion Yale women's tennis team added another accomplishment. The Bulldogs finished the season ranked No. 1 in the ITA’s Northeast Region rankings, which were released Wednesday. This was the second straight season Yale has finished the year ranked No. 1 in the region. Yale also had three players ranked in the regional top 16 in singles, plus two doubles teams ranked among the regional top six -- more than any other school in either category. The Bulldogs also had a pair of doubles teams earn national rankings.
  • Bulldogs Achieve Best Final ITA National Ranking in School History

    The Ivy League champion Yale women's tennis team was ranked No. 29 in the country in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings, which were released Tuesday. That is Yale's highest final ITA ranking in the 28 seasons of rankings available on the ITA website.
  • Epstein, Li and Sullivan Honored with Team Awards

    On the heels of a second straight Ivy League championship season and the program's second NCAA Tournament match win, the Yale women's tennis team honored three players with team awards Tuesday. Junior Elizabeth Epstein (Chicago, Ill.) earned the Lisa Rosenblum Award as the team's most valuable player, freshman Amber Li (Tampa, Fla.) won the Special Contribution Award and sophomore Annie Sullivan (Deerfield, Ill.) earned the Most Improved Player Award.
  • Elizabeth Epstein Elected Captain for 2012-13

    Elizabeth Epstein (Chicago, Ill.), a rising senior who has helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back Ivy League championships, has been elected captain of the Yale women’s tennis team for 2012-13. Epstein was selected in a team vote Tuesday. She also earned her second straight Lisa Rosenblum Award as most valuable player. Yale (20-4, 7-0 Ivy League) concluded its season this past weekend, falling at No. 5 Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • NCAA Run Ends with Loss at No. 5 Stanford

    A talented and deep Stanford team brought the Yale women’s tennis team’s NCAA Tournament run to an end Saturday afternoon in the second round at Taube Family Tennis Center. The Cardinal, ranked No. 5 in the country, won both doubles matches and then finished off the 4-0 win with straight-set victories at the top three singles spots.

    A year ago, the Yale women’s tennis team won a match in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. On Friday afternoon at Stanford’s Taube Family Tennis Stadium, the No. 29 Bulldogs repeated that feat -- and did so in decisive fashion. After claiming the doubles point with a pair of wins, three straight-set singles wins finished off the 4-0 Yale victory over No. 42 Saint Mary’s (Calif.). The Bulldogs will now face No. 5 Stanford, which beat Stony Brook 4-0 Friday, for a shot at the Sweet 16.

    The Ivy League champion Yale women’s tennis team, No. 29 in the most recent national ITA rankings, is in Palo Alto, Calif., this week for the start of the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs, who are making their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, will play No. 42 Saint Mary’s (Calif.) at Stanford’s Taube Family Tennis Stadium on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time (2:00 p.m. Eastern time).
