NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Starting Saturday, Yale's Vicky Brook and Elizabeth Epstein will play in the singles section at the ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The tournament is divided into three sections: the main draw, the qualifiers, and the prequalifiers.  Brook, a senior, is a prequalifier and will thus play first in the tournament.  To advance to the qualifying round she will have to win three matches.  Brook will play her first match Saturday at 4:30 against Nebraska's Mary Weatherholt at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Weatherholt is a senior and made the All-Big 12 Singles Team in both 2009 and 2010 before missing most of her junior season with an injury.  Brook played in the tournament last year, but as a member of a doubles team.  Should she emerge victorious from her first match, Brook will likely be faced with Stephen F. Austin University's Alina Shazhko, one of the top prequalifiers, and then William & Mary's Kayla Rizzolo, another top prequalifier, both of whom she will have to defeat in order to advance to the qualifying round.

Epstein will not begin play until the fourth, and the bracket for the qualifying round will not be released until prequalifying is finished, but she is faced with the same challenge as Brook, needing three victories to advance to the main draw.  Epstein boasts the nation's No. 92 ranking, and is playing in the ITA All-American Championships for the first time.
