PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Sunday, both junior Blair Seideman and sophomore Hanna Yu earned huge wins to catapult them into the qualifying round at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.

With the wins, Seideman and Yu advanced to the qualifying round, where senior captain Elizabeth Epstein will join the two.  Epstein is also playing doubles in the qualifying round, with junior Annie Sullivan joining her as her partner.  Epstein and Sullivan are yet to play together this year, but last season put together a 21-1 record that earned them a No. 40 ranking from the ITA this year.  Play in the qualifying round will begin Tuesday, with three victories necessary in both singles and doubles to advance on to the main draw.

In Sunday's matches, Seideman was the first to win.  Faced with Louisville's Rebecca Shine, Seideman came out quickly and never slowed down, winning 6-2, 6-0 to make a convincing statement that she deserves to play in the qualifying round.

Yu, playing against Utah's Callie Craig, had a tougher path to victory.  Craig was the one to come out quickly in this match, winning the first set 6-1.  Yu battled back in the second, though, with a 7-5 victory that propelled her into an easy third set, which she won 6-0.
