Bulldogs Blank Delaware State
Hamilton Records Win at No. 1
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 28 Yale women's tennis team opened its season Sunday with a 7-0 win over Delaware State at the Heyman-Cullman Tennis Center.
At singles the Bulldogs were dominant across the board, with every player winning her match in two sets. No. 90 freshman Madeleine Hamilton had a strong showing in her first spring competition for Yale, defeating Delaware State's Ksenia Kozlova 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1. Hamilton also played No. 1 doubles with senior Annie Sullivan, where she won 8-2. Sullivan, who played No. 4 singles, did not allow her opponent a single game, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Vanja Andonova.
The Bulldogs had another perfect match at No. 3 doubles, where senior captain Elizabeth Epstein, ranked No. 42 nationally, and freshman Ree Ree Li defeated Vanja Andonova and Ksenia Kozlova 8-0. Epstein played No. 2 singles and won 6-2, 6-1, while Li played No. 5 singles and won 6-1, 6-1.
The Bulldogs will travel to Mississippi next Sunday to compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
