The Yale women's tennis team capped its spring break trip out West on a high note on Friday with a resounding 6-1 win over No. 64 Brigham Young (4-5, 1-0 WCC). Playing at the Whiteman Tennis Center, No. 50 Yale (5-6, 0-0 Ivy) performed at a high level in singles play after narrowly dropping the doubles point. Of the Bulldogs' six singles victories, four were decided in a third set.

No. 28 Arizona State Edges No. 50 Yale, 4-3
In its first of two matches in Arizona this week, the Yale women's tennis team narrowly came up short. Playing Thursday at the Whiteman Tennis Center, the home venue of No. 28 Arizona State (12-2, 1-0 Pac Sun), No. 50 Yale (4-6, 0-0 Ivy) managed to post three wins in singles, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit against the home squad after having lost the doubles point.

The Yale women's tennis team continues its spring break trek westward this week with a pair of matches in Tempe, Ariz. The Bulldogs' destination will be the Whiteman Tennis Center, home of the Arizona State Sun Devils. At this venue, No. 50 Yale (4-5, 0-0 Ivy) will attempt to record its first win on the road this season when the squad takes on No. 28 Arizona State (11-2, 1-0 Pac Sun) on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. MST (4:30 p.m. EDT). Less than 24 hours after that encounter, the Bulldogs will return to the Whiteman Tennis Center for a match against No. 64 Brigham Young (4-4, 1-0 WCC) at 12:00 p.m. MST (3:00 p.m. EDT).

No. 24 Texas Thwarts Upset by No. 50 Yale, 5-2
In the first of three spring break matches out West, the Yale women's tennis team took on No. 24 Texas on Sunday. Playing at the Longhorns' Penick-Allison Tennis Center, the Bulldogs got off to an auspicious start in doubles before Texas took control in singles. The Longhorns notched five singles victories to record the 5-2 win and deny the Bulldogs a blazing start to their spring break campaign.

The Bulldogs travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., where they will compete against highly-ranked opponents in a bracket format. On Saturday, No. 36 Yale will face No. 28 Tulsa at 3:00 p.m., and host No. 11 Michigan will take on No. 54 Virginia Tech. The winners of these matches will then play each other for the title, and the losers will battle for the consolation prize.

Yale Looks to Defend Ivy League Title Against a Busy Schedule
A new season and new challenges await a Yale women's tennis team fresh off a third straight Ivy League Championship. These challenges will come early and often, as the Bulldogs are scheduled to participate in a slew of high-profile events starting in the fall. As for the regular season in the spring, fitness and endurance may be the theme, as the Bulldogs are scheduled to play up to 27 matches over a 14-week span. As always, however, the defending Ivy League champions will aim to rise to these challenges and reach for victory yet again.

Wimbledon Champion and World No. 7 Marion Bartoli and Wimbledon Finalist and World No. 18 Sabine Lisicki join four additional top 10 players in the field for the 2013 New Haven Open at Yale presented by First Niagara, a WTA event that is part of the Emirates Airline US Open Series to be held August 16-24, 2013 at the Connecticut Tennis Center, it was announced today by Tournament Director Anne Worcester.

On the heels of a season that included a third straight Ivy League title and a third straight NCAA tournament appearance, among other achievements, the Yale women's tennis team is saying farewell to a pair of valuable players in Elizabeth Epstein '13 and Sarah Guzick '13. Fortunately, however, the talent of the two incoming freshmen in the class of 2017 bodes well for the continued success of the team in the upcoming season.

The matchups for the 2014 ITA Kick-Off Weekend were announced June 5, and the Yale women's tennis team will face Tulsa in the first round at the University of Michigan. The Bulldogs are the No. 3 seed for that site, while Tulsa is the No. 2 seed. Michigan, the No. 1 seed, will play No. 4 seed Virginia Tech in the other tournament match at that site.
