NEW HAVEN, Conn. —Fresh off a 6-1 win over Brigham Young, the No. 53-ranked Yale women's tennis team (5-6, 0-0 Ivy) will be back in New Haven this weekend to host Bryant and St. John's (N.Y.). The Bulldogs are 1-0 at home after sweeping Boston University on Feb. 16.
Having already competed at big tournaments like the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic and the ECAC Indoor Team Championship, Yale is now deep into the non-conference portion of its season. Junior Hanna Yu has been a standout of late, winning her last four singles matches and moving up in the lineup from No. 5 to No. 4. At No. 1 doubles, sophomores Madeleine Hamilton and Ree Ree Li have earned themselves a No. 53 ranking nationally, with wins in their last two matches.
The Bryant Bulldogs are 5-5 this season but have lost their last three matches on the road. The Bulldogs compete in the Northeast Conference, where they are 0-1 with a loss to LIU Brooklyn.
Like Bryant, St. John's is also experiencing a cold streak. The Red Storm has lost its past three matches, all three of which were on the road. The team will host Wichita State Friday before traveling to New Haven on Sunday.
Yale will play at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
