Hamilton Defeats Beazant at No. 1

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. —Saturday at William & Mary the No. 52-ranked Yale women's tennis team (7-7, 0-0 Ivy) lost a 4-3 nail-biter to No. 30 Rice. The Owls earned the doubles point before taking three of six singles matches.

Sophomore Madeleine Hamilton had a standout performance at No. 1 singles, defeating the nation's No. 72-ranked player, Natalie Beazant in two quick sets. With the Bulldogs leading 3-2, the decision came down to the matches at Nos. 2 and 3, where junior Hanna Yu and sophomore Ree Ree Li each extended play into the third set but ultimately came up short.
