Battaglia Eliminated from All-American Championships

Battaglia Plays Two Matches at Prestigious Tournament

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. Freshman Madison Battaglia was selected to compete in the pre-qualifying draw of the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's All-American Championships. After two hard-fought matches, Battaglia bowed out in the round of 32.

Making her debut in collegiate tennis, Battaglia comfortably defeated East Carolina's Celia Ruiz 6-3, 7-5 in the round of 64. She then competed against Texas Christian University's Olaya Garrido-Rivas. Battaglia narrowly lost the first set 7-6(6) but came back to win the second 6-4. Despite her efforts, however, Battaglia conceded the third set and was defeated 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-3.

This week, Battaglia will rejoin the squad to prepare for Yale's very own Bulldog Invitational taking place Oct. 7-9.
