Yale Falls to North Carolina 4-0 in First Round

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 by No. 2 North Carolina in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Championship.

North Carolina took the doubles point after claiming victories at No. 2 and 3 doubles. At No. 1 singles, junior Carol Finke fell to No. 5 Hayley Carter, while senior captain Tina Jiang was defeated by No. 2 Sara Daavettila in the No. 2 spot. Junior Valerie Shklover retired in the No. 4 singles match against No. 48 Alexa Graham to give the final point to North Carolina.

Yale will return to the courts for a consolation match against Auburn on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The match will take place at the Tennis & Fitness Center of Rocky Hill.
