Swett Looks Forward to Next Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team elected junior Sunday Swett to serve as captain for the 2017-18 season.

In her freshman and sophomore years, Swett received the Special Contribution Award, which recognizes "a special person who has contributed much more than tennis and whose presence was vital to the spirit of the women's tennis team." On the courts this season, she achieved a quarterfinal finish in Doubles Flight B at the Cissie Leary Invitational for the second year in a row, partnering with senior Caroline Lynch on both occasions.

Reflecting on this past season, Swett acknowledged the challenges that Yale has faced. Despite those difficulties, she commented, "I think our team has grown a tremendous amount over the course of this last semester… the strides we've made as a team in terms of coming together, building a foundation, and gaining more confidence, will serve us well going into next year."

Swett emphasized the importance of unity and highlighted communication as key to the team's success. Given how much the team has grown in those respects this past season, Swett expressed confidence for the next year: "There are a lot of positive takeaways from this season, and I think we are all excited to come back even stronger."
