NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's tennis team is gearing up for a long trip down to Montgomery, Ala., where the Bulldogs will partake in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. Coming off a weekend in which they lost to Boston College and Syracuse, the Bulldogs will be extra motivated down in the Heart of Dixie.

Yale's toughest opponent of the season awaits in Illinois, which is ranked No. 5 according to the most recent Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. The Fighting Illini are 7-1 with wins over No. 11 Texas and No. 22 Washington along the way. Their only loss of the season came to current No. 1 UNC. Illinois is led by Jaclyn Switkes, ranked No. 79 nationally, who will likely be taking on Samantha Martinelli in a match that will be extremely exciting to watch.

The Bulldogs will take on Illinois at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Their second round opponent will depend on the outcome of their match and the Denver-Auburn match; Auburn is ranked No. 26 themselves. After that, the Bulldogs will play a third match, again dependent on the outcome of several other matches. Other teams competing include No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 31 Alabama, Utah and UAB.
