NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior Amy Yang has been elected to serve as captain of the Yale women's tennis team for the 2018-2019 season. The captain is always voted on by the members of the team, a testament to Yang's place in the heart and minds of her teammates.
The Berkeley College junior from John's Creek, Ga., primarily played at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles for most of the season, winning 25 matches in total (14 singles, 11 doubles). She was named Second Team All-Ivy League in doubles at the end of her sophomore season; she was also the recipient of the John A. Blum '77 Most Improved Player Award that same season.
"It's a great honor to be named captain and I am very excited for next season, [even though] it's always sad to see the seniors go," said Yang.
With a highly ranked recruiting class for the Bulldogs next season, the future is looking bright.
"[The team has] a great foundation from this year and I am excited to continue building upon it-- especially with the incoming first years," she said.
