Bulldogs Compete in First Day of ECAC Indoor Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Yale women's tennis team dropped their first match of the ECAC Indoor Championship on Friday afternoon, losing 4-2 in a tightly contested match to Columbia.

The day started out well for the Bulldogs, as they won two doubles matches to go up 1-0; Jessie Gong and Samantha Martinelli won 6-3, while Caroline Amos and Kathy Wang took their set 6-2. Caroline Dunleavy and Raissa Lou were up 5-3 before their match was cut short as a result of the Bulldogs clinch.

The team continued their momentum into singles, with Wang winning in straight sets while dropping just three games in total. From there, though, the Lions seized control to win the next four singles matches, each in straight sets. Gong's match finished in the third set at two games a piece.

Yale will play Harvard tomorrow at 11:00 am, while Columbia plays Penn at 5:00 pm.
