Providence, RI. - The Yale women's tennis team kicked off their quest for the Ivy League crown with a stellar 4-1 victory over the Brown Bears earlier Saturday afternoon.

Doubles set the tone early, with the Bulldogs striking to take a 1-0 lead. Jessie Gong and Samantha Martinelli, the 56th ranked doubles team in the country, registered an efficient 6-2 win to start things off. Caroline Dunleavy and Raissa Lou followed that up with a tight 6-4 victory to give the Bulldogs the doubles point.

The two teams exchanged matches to start singles play. Brown won the No. 5 spot in straights, while Dunleavy cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 spot. Martinelli avenged her loss to Devon Jack earlier in the season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the Brown No. 1. With the Bulldogs  one win away, Kathy Wang wrapped it up in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 6 spot. Gong and Lou both had their matches ended early.

Yale continues play next weekend with matches against Cornell and Columbia.
