Dunleavy Elected Captain

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - At the end of a successful first season with the Yale women's tennis team, sophomore Caroline Dunleavy was named team captain for the 2019-20 season. The captain is always voted on by the members of the team, demonstrating how much Dunleavy has contributed over her singular season with the Bulldogs. She transferred from Notre Dame at the end of last year.

Dunleavy played No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles for the entirety of this past season, winning 19 singles matches and 17 doubles matches. She was named the John A. Blum '75 Most Improved Player Award and earned a spot on the All-Ivy League First Team.

On being named captain, Dunleavy said she is "so grateful for the opportunities that Yale Tennis has given" her and that it was "an honor to be named captain by [her] teammates". She is also "looking forward to building on [the team's] success from this year" and will look to help bring the Bulldogs together as this year's past seniors did.

With no seniors on next year's team, Dunleavy will play an important role in leading a very young team that features one of the nation's best incoming recruiting classes.

"I hope that I can help our incoming first years to feel comfortable at Yale and make sure they know that our team is always there for them," she said.
