Yale Tops Fairleigh Dickinson 7-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale improved to 2-0 this season with a 7-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday at the Cullman-Heyman Center. The win extends Yale's home winning streak to 15 straight matches.

The Bulldogs won the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, senior Janet Kim and freshman Vicky Brook defeated opponents Julia Prantl and Ksenia Chernyshova 8-0. Sophomore Stevi Petrelli and junior Jessica Rhee won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles over Julija Korshunova and Jinny DeCarlos. Playing No. 3 doubles, junior Sarah Lederhandler and senior Lilian Nguyen rolled to an 8-1 victory over Jessica DeCarlos and Christina Martine.

Yale did not drop a singles set also in the victory. At No. 1 singles, Kim cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Korshunova. Rhee defeated Prantl 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Playing No. 3 singles, Brook won 6-3, 6-1 over Chernyshova.

At the No. 4 singles slot, Lederhandler came out with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jessica DeCarlos. Petrelli did not lose a game at No. 5 singles in her 6-0, 6-0 win over Jinny DeCarlos. Playing No. 6 singles, Nguyen rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Martine.

Yale hosts St. Johns on Sunday.
